| The Adjutant General of the Ohio National Guard has approved the construction of a Camp Perry museum that will chronicle the history of Camp Perry as a training facility, POW camp and the home of the National Matches for the last 100+ years. The museum will be located in Building 2009, commonly known as the old baggage station, located next to the park where the Gratitude Train car is located. The Friends of Camp Perry have been asked to curate the new museum. As such, we will be looking for Camp Perry memorabilia and related historical items for display exhibits, so start looking through your attics, scrap books and those old trunks. Any items or photographs relating to Camp Perry that you would like to donate to the museum would be greatly appreciated!
We anticipate that initial work will begin in late 2010. The Friends of Camp Perry have secured a Friends of NRA grant to begin work on the new museum. Stay tuned for more information on how you can contribute to the museum! |
