M-1s For Vets

Sponsorship

We'd like to thank those who donated to help the injured vets shoot at the 2007 National Matches. Here are some photos from the firing line.

One of the vets making a shot during the prone rapid phase. That dark streak above target 38 is actually a shell casing just ejected from his Garand!

This competitor is shooting the slow fire prone phase. Don't be fooled by the photograph, those targets are 200 yards away!
Here's another one of the guys during the offhand phase.
The Friends of Camp Perry is continuing to solicit donations from American Legion, VFW and AmVets posts, as well as individuals and clubs to help sponsor a disabled/injured veteran to come and be able to shoot at the Springfield and Garand Matches at Camp Perry. The M-1s for Vets program provides rifles and assistance for those vets who would still like to shoot in a competitive environment but lack the ability to shoot on their own. 16 injured vets attended the 2007 National Matches this year and had a fabulous time. Sponsorship covers housing, entry fees and meals. Sponsorship for one veteran is $500. If you could solicit your posts or shooting clubs for donations of $50 to $100 to help sponsor a veteran, we would greatly appreciate it, but any donations would be accepted.

Donations should be sent to:

P.O. Box 803
Port Clinton, OH 43452
